Weekend In Review
Columbus Day weekend was a busy weekend for the West Harrison Fire Department. It started Saturday morning with Tower Ladder 9 heading over the bridge to rockland county to provide coverage for the Havestraw Fire Department while they attended a parade in Nyack. We did not answer any calls for service while standing by but always a pleasure to work with our counter parts on the other side of the Hudson. During this time period Ladder 53 from the Purchase Fire Department and Engine 265 stood by to cover the district.
Saturday night the Town Village Of Harrison hosted its annual Great To Live In Harrison Firework show in West Harrison. From 630pm-1030pm over 12 members stood by in the event of an emergency and provided district coverage as the firehouse was being utilized by the recreation department for refreshments and attendees of the firework show.
Sunday Morning the Department participated in the Harrison Police Department’s open house, which showcases all of Harrison’s emergency service equipment and also members were able to teach the public on some fire prevention tips.
Lastly , on Monday Morning the Department participated in the Columbus Day parade in downtown Harrison which capped off a busy weekend. During all these events the department handled 5 calls for service. We would like to take this time to thank our dedicated volunteers who stood by and participated in all these events. Also Thank you to the Purchase Fire Department for providing Ladder 53 during the day on Saturday.
Interested in Joining? Stop by the firehouse any Tuesday night at 7pm to pick up an application and meet the members! |
