Yesterday The West Harrison Fire Department took delivery of a 2024 1000XP Polaris Ranger Northstar edition. The unit features a 9 horsepower electric pump with a 70 gallon water tank and a 3 gallon foam tank. The unit also features a removable stokes basket with seating capacity for up to 6 firefighters. The West Harrison Fire Department covers over 250 acres of preserve land located off Old lake street in our first due response area, as well as many other wooded areas with limited fire apparatus accessibility. Having this piece of our equipment in our department will greatly enhance our ability to respond to brush fires, lost/missing or injured hikers in the preserve and other areas of town. This piece of equipment can also be used for calls in severe weather events and or large public gatherings that require road closures where fire apparatus have limited access. Over the next month or so members will preform in service training, tool mounting and graphic design on this piece of equipment prior to being placed fully in service. We would like to thank the board of fire commissioners and the apparatus committee for making this possible. Stay tuned for more photos of the in service training!
